Glaucoma

Bluebonnet Optometry -Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the optic nerve. As the nerve progressively degenerates the patient will lose their peripheral vision and it will slowly move in to their central vision causing significant vision loss. Unfortunately we can not cure the disease but we can slow it down with medication and or surgical intervention. If you have a family history or a history of high eye pressure, then you’re at risk for Glaucoma.

A glaucoma evaluation typically include pictures of the inside of the eye (fundus photos), side vision test (perimetry test), eye pressures reading, corneal thickness measurement and measuring the angle of the drainage of the eye (gonoiscopy).
