Dr. Judy Gandara

Dr. Judy Gandara received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of California, San Diego. She then continued her education to receive a Doctorate of Optometry from University of California, Berkeley. She was selected from her entering optometry class to receive the departmental award, given to students who showed exemplary academic strengths and community outreach . She continued her learning at American Lake VA in Washington state as a resident and managed patients with glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other ocular diseases.

Her passion for optometry as well as her desire to make eye care accessible to everyone led Dr. Gandara to participate in mission trips and offer vision screenings for the homeless and the elderly. She hopes to continue making eye care available to everyone and participate in local vision screenings. Dr. Gandara is also a member of the Bexar County Optometric District Society. She is experienced in and enthusiastic about providing eye care using the latest technology and research.

Dr. Gandara and her husband planted roots in San Antonio and have two young children. They and their family enjoy exploring the city as often as possible.
